A Tribute to ECM · Part 1
Manfred Eicher’s ECM Records has always been a reference in the fascinating universe of album cover design. His vision and sense of artistic freedom gave wings to designers and photographers to create unique covers.

This work is my tribute to him, his record label, and its artists. It’s also a “what if” self-initiated exercise where I meditated about their music. I investigated ECM’s universe and its covers and chose only the ones that had simple typographic work on a neutral background.
This idea and personal challenge came to me while listening to my favorite Arvo Pärt’s composition: “Für Alina,” so it seemed natural to start this tribute by this ECM’s essential release.

“Für Alina was dedicated to a family friend’s eighteen-year-old daughter who had just gone to study in London. Its introspection calls to mind a vivid image of youth, off to explore the world. (...) Calm, exalted, listening to one’s inner self.” – Tyran Grillo
